Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark casts Zoe Colletti
Deadline reports that actress Zoe Colletti (Annie, Wildlife) will be joining the ensemble cast of Guillermo del Toro’s (The Shape of Water, Trollhunters, Pan’s Labyrinth) adaptation of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Although she has been cast, there is no information given on specifically who she will be portraying in the film. This news comes after del Toro announced yesterday that production on the film would start up soon in Toronto.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding the sudden and macabre deaths in their small town. Steve Bertram, eOne’s president of film, television, and digital, said that the film is a “chillingly fun ride that’s sure to leave audiences around the world jumping in their seats.”
The movie will be directed by André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Trollhunter) and is co-written by Daniel and Kevin Hageman. At one point del Torro was set to direct the film, but recently del Torro decided to only serve as a producer on the project. The cast for the project, however, is still a mystery.
Entertainment One will distribute the project in Canada, U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Benelux, Spain, Austria, and Switzerland. CBS Films will distribute the feature in the U.S. through Lionsgate. Sean Daniel, Elizabeth Grave, Jason F. Brown, and J. Miles Dale will also be producing.
No official release date has been revealed, but the horror film should be coming to theaters in 2019.
