Avengers: Infinity War Adds Motion-Capture Actor Terry Notary

Though you may not know his name, you’re undoubtedly familiar with motion-capture actor Terry Notary, who has played Rocket in the past two Planet of the Apes movies (and the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes) and even plays the title monster in Kong: Skull Island. Now the actor will be making the leap to another giant franchise, as Notary confirms to The Hollywood Reporter he’ll play a role in Avengers: Infinity War.

“I’m working on four characters right now. I’m working with Josh Brolin and three other actors [in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War], and I’m playing Josh Brolin’s right hand bad guy in the film. I can’t say the name of the character or I think Marvel will sever my head, but I apply those same principals of what it means to drop bullsh*t and just play a character truly evil. And it’s working. [Laughs] It’s truly working.”

Despite his appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron where he bellowed out “I’ll do it myself,” Thanos has actually been somewhat of a team player in the pages of Marvel Comics. His group alliances have previously included the Infinity Watch, the Black Order and most recently the Cabal. It remains to be seen if any of these groups will appear in the film and which of their members Notary will be playing for the feature, but sound off with your best guesses in the comments below!

Filming officially started on Monday, January 23, 2017 for the Avengers sequel, which sees Earth’s Mightiest Heroes teaming up with the Guardians of the Galaxy to take on Brolin’s Thanos.

Directors Anthony and Joe Russo, who return after Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, are directing both Avengers: Infinity War and the untitled fourth film, which are filming back-to-back in Atlanta and are written by screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Both films will also be shot entirely with IMAX cameras. Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is slated for a release in theaters on May 4, 2018, with its follow-up set to open on May 3, 2019.
