Exclusive The Belko Experiment Soundtrack Preview

An exclusive sample of composer Tyler Bates’ intense score for the bloody new thriller The Belko Experiment

We’ve been hyping the holy heck out of Orion Pictures and BH Tilt’s upcoming cutthroat (literally) corporate satire The Belko Experiment and for very good reasons. The film is written and produced by James Gunn (Slither, Guardians of the Galaxy) and directed by Wolf Creek auteur Greg McLean and it’s a lean, nihilistic, berserkly violent and darkly funny lulu of a thriller. Keep your eyes peeled for it when it splats into theaters on March 17.

And keep your ears peeled for it too as the score is composed and performed by the great Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, Halloween), who has created a dread-fueled, Latin-flavored electro-symphonic aural nightmare that matches the carnage and creepiness on screen.Taking its cues from Lord of the Flies and Battle Royale by way of The Hunger Games, the wildly gory The Belko Experiment explores a twisted social experiment, in which a group of 80 Americans are locked in their high-rise corporate office in Bogata, Columbia and ordered by an unknown voice on an intercom system to participate in a deadly game of kill or be killed.

The cast for The Belko Experiment includes John Gallagher Jr. (Short Term 12), Melonie Diaz (Fruitvale Station), John C. McGinley (Office Space), Tony Goldwyn (Scandal), David Dastmalchian (The Dark Knight), Gail Bean (Unexpected), Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy), Valentine Miele (Super), Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), Mikaela Hoover (Super), Josh Brener (Silicon Valley), Rusty Schwimmer (Louie), Joe Fria (Speedwagon), James Earl (The Lazarus Effect), Brent Sexton (The Killing), Stephen Blackehart (Tromeo and Juliet), David Del Rio (Pitch Perfect) and Ben Davis (Red Dead Redemption).

On the Bates tip, we have an exclusive treat for you today in the form of the official soundtrack/score preview video, featuring a glut of photos and samples of every cue from the picture. The soundtrack album is available now from Lakeshore Records.
