Plot Summary: Based on the sprawling sci-fi epic, "Robotech" takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off three successive waves of alien invasions. The first invasion concerns a battle with a race of giant warriors who seek to retrieve their flagship's energy source known as "protoculture," and the planet's survival ends up in the hands of two young pilots.

"Robotech" was an anaimated series during the 1980s from Harmony Gold USA and Tatsunoko Productions.

Tobey Maguire is producing through his Maguire Entertainment and is eyeing the lead role in what the studio plans on being a tentpole sci-fi franchise.

If it's gonna be like Transformers, please, DON'T. Don't destroy this one, please. It was so great.
I mean it. It can't be a movie. Just the Macross part would be enough for a Lord-of-the-Rings sized epic.
And technology hasn't reach the point where robots can feel real. (Watch Transformers, it was horrible).
So please, DON'T. Watch the anime, it was great.

If they want to do it right it should be just like Star Wars a three part series, Macross, Southern Cross and Invid (Mospedia) story lines.

Robotech was always a favorite of mine, I have confidence that Maguire wont mess it up, everyone is so affraid of it being messed up, I say Ive waited Years for this show to become a movie, all it takes is the right person to write it and make it believeable, its about time we had more Giant Robo Flicks

HEY JMOROCHA2005 YOUR A ****ING MORON, TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE WAS AMAZING AND IT WAS ONE OF THE TOP GROSSING FILMS OF ALL TIME. MICHEAL BAY DIDN'T MESS IT UP BASTARDS LIKE YOU MADE IT SOUND BAD.
