Plot Summary:
BANG Showbiz senior editor Simon Thompson tells ComingSoon.net that he talked to Brent 'Data' Spiner about J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Trek XI. The "Star Trek: The Next Generation" actor says he has ruled out a return to the successful franchise. Spiner made the announcement as "Star Trek" celebrated it's 40th anniversary last Friday.
"I don't think I should play Data anymore. I think I'm too old to play him anymore to be honest," he said. "I think it would look stupid putting that make-up on me at this point. There certain characters that I think work in a youthful way and I think I really skated along the edge in the last couple movies as it was."
He joked: "Having said that, you'll see the movie now and there I'll be in all the make-up… then you'll know I got a very sweet deal."
Paramount is targeting Star Trek XI for a 2008 release.
