Despite his momentum, WWE failed to capitalize on his success. In 2020, the promotion released him due to COVID-19-related budget cuts, leading him to sign with AEW later that year. During his AEW run, Miro battled top names like Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara, and Will Ospreay and even captured the AEW TNT Championship.
Although his contract was originally set to expire in 2026, Miro requested his release in late 2024 after being absent from AEW programming since late 2023. He was finally granted his release in February 2024, leaving the company alongside Ricky Starks and Malakai Black.
Following his release, Miro fueled speculation about a WWE return after being spotted with former World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus. After this sighting, new reports confirm that WWE has serious interest in bringing him back.

The report indicated that WWE has shown interest in bringing him back, but his return might not happen immediately. The report states, “I’d expect Miro before the end of the year.
