WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross Set to Retire in 2024

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is facing a pivotal moment in his career as he discussed potential retirement plans in his latest podcast episode. With a remarkable tenure of nearly 50 years, Ross has been a defining figure in professional wrestling, lending his iconic voice to memorable moments across multiple eras and promotions.

Ross’s storied career includes notable roles in World Championship Wrestling, Mid-South Wrestling, and WWE, where he rightfully earned a place in the prestigious Hall of Fame. Currently, he continues to leave his mark as a commentator for All Elite Wrestling.

During a recent segment on his podcast, Grilling JR, Ross candidly addressed a fan’s question about the possibility of retiring this year. Ross expressed, “I think so. It’s realistic to think that. I’m 72 years old, I feel good, I get healthier every day, which is great, but I have to think realistically this could be my last year and more than likely will. It’s to be determined. That’s between me, my health, and Tony Khan.”

He added, “Right now it’s a good plan because I’m essentially working, as I understand, pay-per-views only. That’s where you’ll find me, as the plan goes, as we speak. As we know, in pro wrestling, things change and could be different, but I don’t think so with this occasion. I think it’s what I’ll be doing, and that’s fine with me. I get to go to big shows, call big matches on big shows.”

Even though Ross has considered it, he remains dedicated to his work. He is focusing on calling pay-per-view events in his new deal with AEW. Ross has encountered several health problems, such as battling cancer multiple times. However, he has remained strong and passionate about wrestling.

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross recently extended his contract with AEW

In the dynamic world of professional wrestling, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has reaffirmed his commitment to AEW with a new one-year contract extension. In an episode of his podcast, Ross shared insights into the smooth negotiation process and expressed his satisfaction with the outcome.

He stated, “We wrote a new deal. We wrote a completely new deal. No extension. New contract. It was probably the quickest and easiest negotiation I have ever done in my career of 50 years. That’s all because of Tony Khan’s commitment to me as a broadcaster. He’s always been a fan of my work, which helps you ’cause when your boss is a fan of your work. We got a new deal.”

With his new contract, Jim Ross remains an integral part of AEW’s success story. He is poised to deliver his signature commentary and insight for the foreseeable future.
