Bel-Air Trailer Unveils Peacock’s Dramatic Take on Classic Sitcom

Peacock has debuted the full Bel-Air trailer for the forthcoming modern reimagining of the classic Will Smith-led ’90s sitcom, featuring newcomer Jabari Banks as he takes on the leading role of Will. It will premiere on Super Bowl Sunday, February 13, with the first three episodes releasing. Following its debut, new episodes will be streaming weekly.

The Bel-Air trailer, which you can check out below along with the new photos, gives us our first look at the reboot’s new take on a familiar premise by adding more depth into the problem concerning the real reason why Will was forced to leave West Philly. It also provides our first look at the show’s version of the Banks Family.

Inspired by Morgan Cooper’s viral video of the same name, Bel-Air reimagines the iconic sitcom as a modern-day drama. It is co-written and directed by Cooper, who is also set as an executive producer.

“Set in modern-day America, Peacock’s new one-hour drama series imagines the beloved sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air through a new, dramatic take on Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air,” reads the official synopsis. “As these two worlds collide, Will reckons with the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known.

The reboot will star Jabari Banks in his acting debut, Adrian Holmes (V Wars) as Phillip Banks, Cassandra Freeman (Atlanta) as Vivian Banks, Olly Sholotan (Evolution of Nate Gibson) as Carlton Banks, Coco Jones (Vampires vs. The Bronx) as Hilary Banks, Akira Akbar (Captain Marvel) as Ashley Banks, Jimmy Akingbola (Most Dangerous Game) as Geoffrey, Jordan L. Jones (Snowfall) as Jazz, and Simone Joy Jones (The Chair, What If) as Lisa.
