Top Boy returns to Netflix with new episodes six years after its last season

After concluding its two-season run back in 2013, Top Boy is back with an all-new season on Netflix. The move was originally announced back in 2017, and now you can check out the trailer for the new season below!

Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson reprise their roles as Dushane and Sully, respectively, and joined by newcomer Micheal Ward (The A List) as Jamie. Shone Romulus (Out) returns as Dris and Ashley Thomas (Black Mirror) is back as Jermaine. New cast members include Lisa Dwan (Trust), Jasmine Jobson (Obey), Kadeem Ramsay (Sex Education), Saffron Hocking (London Kills), Kola Bokinni (Hunter Killer) and Hope Ikpoku. The series also features musical artists Simbi Ajikawo and David Omoregie.

The original series aired in the UK before its end in six years ago, with both seasons available to stream on Netflix. The new episodes pick up as Dushane returns from exile to his home in London to reclaim his throne in the drug market. He teams up with Sully, his spiritual brother, partner and sometime rival who is also returning to the same streets after his time in prison comes to an end. Awaiting them both is Jamie, the ruthless gang leader whose ambitions don’t involve Dushane or Sully.

The next chapter consists of ten all-new episodes and is created and written by Ronan Bennett, with Daniel West also serving as a writer. The series is executive produced by the original creative team — Cowboy Films’ Charles Steel and Alasdair Flind, Easter Partisan’s Ronan Bennett and Yann Demange. Yvonne Isimeme Ibazebo will also serve as series producer. The new installment is executive produced by pop star (and former Degrassi actor) Drake along with his business partner Adel ‘Future’ Nur, along with Maverick Carter and Jamal Henderson for SpringHill Entertainment.

The new episodes are directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green (Monsters and Men), Nia DaCosta (Candyman), Aneil Karia (Pure) and Brady Hood (Endeavour). The series features original music by Brian Eno and additional music by Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante.

Top Boy is back on September 13 only on Netflix.
