Salvation has been renewed for a second season by CBS
CBS today announced the second season renewal of the suspense thriller Salvation for broadcast during summer 2018. Season two of the serialized drama received a 13-episode order.
Salvation centers on Liam Cole (Charlie Rowe), an MIT grad student, and Darius Tanz (Santiago Cabrera), a tech superstar, who bring Pentagon official Grace Barrows (Jennifer Finnigan) a staggering discovery – that an asteroid is just months away from colliding with Earth. Now with the added threat of nuclear war on the horizon, they work together with Secretary of Defense Harris Edwards (Ian Anthony Dale) to find a way to divert the asteroid, stop the war and save humanity before time runs out.
The series stars Santiago Cabrera (Transformers: The Last Knight, Big Little Lies) as Darius Tanz, Jennifer Finnigan (Monday Mornings, Better with You) as Grace Barrows, and Charlie Rowe (Red Band Society, The Secrets) as Liam Cole. The cast also includes Jacqueline Byers (Ordinary Days, Full Out) as Jillian Hayes, newcomer Rachel Drance as Zoe Barrows, Shazi Raja (Brad’s Status, High Maintenance) as Amanda Neel, and Ian Anthony Dale (The Hangover, The Bucket List) as Harris Edwards. Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro, who wrote the script (based on the story by Matt Wheeler), are executive producers along with Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Peter Lenkov and Stuart Gillard for CBS Television Studios in association with Secret Hideout. Academy Award-nominated director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (Esposados) directed and served as executive producer on the first episode. Salvation premiered on CBS on Wednesday, July 12 of this year.
