Fox developing sci-fi drama Proxy from Vacation co-directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein
An hour-long sci-fi drama is in development at FOX with Vacation co-writers and co-directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, according to Variety. The show, which will be called Proxy, is the story of technology that allows people to live through the experiences of “hedonistic young Proxies” who are living on a remote island paradise.
The script has been ordered with a penalty attached. Daley will write and executive produce Proxy, and Goldstein will executive produce through their GoldDay banner. Goldstein will write if Proxy gets picked up. Michael Sugar (13 Reasons Why, The OA) will executive produce for Anonymous Content, and Twentieth Century Fox Television will also produce.
John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein directed 2015’s Vacation, starring Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Chevy Chase, Chris Hemsworth and Leslie Mann. They wrote the scripts for films like Horrible Bosses, Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. Daley and Goldstein are directing the upcoming film Game Night, starring Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams, Jesse Plemons, Kylie Bunbury and Lamorne Morris. Game Night is set to hit theaters on February 16, 2018.
Jonathan Goldstein has written for TV shows like The Geena Davis Show, Good Morning Miami, Four Kings, and The New Adventures of Old Christine. John Francis Daley is known for playing the role of Sam Weir on the NBC comedy/drama Freaks and Geeks and as Dr. Lance Sweets on the series Bones.
