NBC revealed today that on November 12, comedian Dave Chappelle will make his triumphant return to sketch comedy when he hosts Saturday Night Live, his first major television hosting appearance since the collapse of Chappelle’s Show in 2005. The musical guest for SNL‘s first post-election episode will be the legendary hip-hop trio A Tribe Called Quest.
The show confirmed the news in an understated way on Twitter:

Although Chappelle has continued to perform stand-up over the years, he has kept his media footprint to a minimum. His most significant appearances since his abrupt exit from his Comedy Central series (for which he forfeited a $50 million salary) have been the 2006 Michel Gondry concert film Dave Chappelle’s Block Party (shot before the Comedy Central exit) and an appearance in Spike Lee’s 2015 film Chi-Raq.
Saturday Night Live is produced in association with Broadway Video. The creator and executive producer is Lorne Michaels.
