Pete the Cat Book Series Headed to Television from Alcon Entertainment

Pete the Cat book series is headed to TV

Alcon Entertainment has announced they’ve secured the rights to develop the popular children’s book series Pete the Cat as an animated television series, it was announced by Alcon co-founders and co-CEO’s Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove.

Alcon acquired the rights from the author James Dean. The project was brought to Alcon from Appian Way. Swampy Marsh, co-creator and executive producer of the hit Disney Channel original show Phineas and Ferb, has been tapped as the show runner, and will Executive Produce along with Alcon’s Kosove, Johnson, and Alcon Television President Laura Lancaster, as well as Appian Way’s Partner Jennifer Davisson. Alcon’s Ben Roberts will produce and James Dean will serve as a Consulting Producer. Appian Way’s Nathaniel Posey shepherded the project.

The Pete the Cat character was created by James Dean in 1999. His first novel, Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, was distributed by publisher Harper Collins throughout the United States and Canada. The series reached #1 on the New York Times bestseller list for Picture Books. The Pete the Cat series now has over 22 published books including picture books, storybooks and songbooks.
