Check out the First Still from the New Uncle Buck Series

Universal TV and ABC Studios have just revealed the first still from their upcoming small-screen take on John Hughes’ 1989 comedy Uncle Buck. Check it out in full in the gallery viewer below!

Set to star Mike Epps and Nia Long, the new “Uncle Buck” series will follow Epps as the title character (played by John Candy in the original film), a fun-but-immature uncle who begins to forge his own sense of responsibility when tasked with looking after his nieces and nephews. Iman Benson, Aalyrah Caldwell, James Lesure and Sayeed Shahidi will also star.

Planned as a half-hour, multi-camera series, “Uncle Buck” has Will Packer on board as an executive producer. The series’ writers, Brian Bradley and Steven Cragg, will also executive produce, as will Korin Huggins.

“Uncle Buck” was previously adapted as a television series on CBS in 1990. In that version, Kevin Meaney played the title character for what amounted to a single season of 22 episodes.

The new “Uncle Buck” series joins several new comedies heading to NBC, which also include “Dr. Ken,” “The Muppets” and “The Real O’Neals.”
