Scream TV Series to Recreate Drew Barrymore’s Scene from Original Film

We’re still nearly a year out from MTV’s upcoming “Scream” TV series and previous reports have cast doubt on how much the series will build off of the film franchise, but now a report from Bloody Disgusting indicates that they might be paying homage after all. The outlet brings word that the series will recreate the opening scene from the original Scream in the first episode of the series.

In addition, actress Bella Thorne confirmed in a fan chat via Yahoo Celebrity that she will be the victim in the scene.

“Yes it is true,” Thorne wrote when asked if the rumors of her appearing in “Scream” were true. “I will re-enact the famous scene of Drew Barrymore in the original series.”

The series is said to kick off with a YouTube video going viral, which will have adverse repercussions for a young teenager and seemingly serve as the catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to the town’s troubled past. Could the YouTube video in question be the murder of Thorne’s character in the same manner of Barrymore’s in the original film? And could the “town” in question in fact be Woodsboro? Sure seems like it. Let us know your thoughts below!

The series will consist of 10 episodes and star Willa Fitzgerald, Bex Taylor-Klaus, John Karna, Connor Weil, Carlson Young, Tracy Middendorf, Joel Gretsch and newcomer Amadeus Serafini. It will debut in October 2015.
