A person involved with the Tomb Raider franchise reveals Sophie Turner’s approach to playing Lara Croft. The X-Men star will be seen as the popular archaeologist and adventurer in the Prime Video series based on the iconic video game franchise.
What is the update on Sophie Turner’s Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider show?
In a recent conversation with Variety, Alix Wilton Regan, a voice and performance capture artist associated with the franchise, commented on Sophie Turner and the upcoming TV series. Regan, who portrays Lara Croft in the Legacy of Atlantis remake and Catalyst, said, “I haven’t spoken to Sophie about her interpretation of Lara because I don’t think that would be either appropriate or fair at this point. She’s so immersed in her journey of creating her Lara. But between Sophie Turner and [writer] Phoebe Waller-Bridge, I think you’re in very safe hands. I have no concerns about this TV show. It’s going to be fantastic, because anything that those two do is really, really good.”
Regan also revealed that she had interacted with Turner after her role in the video games was made public, saying, “In 2025, when I was announced at the Game Awards, I asked the gods and the goddesses of Amazon HQ if I could talk to her, and they said yes, of course, you can. So I texted her, and she just replied all capital letters ‘Alix’ in a text message, and ‘Oh my god, can’t believe this. Oh my god, my mind is blown.’ They were just solid capital for the whole time.”

The Tomb Raider series is directed by Jonathan Van Tulleken, with Chad Hodge serving as a co-showrunner. It is produced by Story Kitchen, Crystal Dynamics, Wells Street Productions, Legendary Television, and Amazon MGM Studios. Alongside Sophie Turner, the upcoming series stars Sigourney Weaver, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jason Isaacs, Bill Paterson, Jack Bannon, John Hefferman, Celia Imrie, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, and August Wittgenstein in key roles.
While a release date for the TV series has yet to be announced, the video games featuring Alix Wilton Regan are scheduled to drop next year. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will release in February 2027, with Tomb Raider: Catalyst launching later that year.
