Super Why’s Comic Book Adventures sets PBS Kids release date
Super Why’s Comic Book Adventures is officially headed to PBS KIDS, with the network confirming that the new animated series will premiere on October 5, 2026. The project will expand the world of Super Why!, the Emmy-nominated educational series that first launched in 2007. It also follows the previously released Super Why’s Comic Book Adventures shorts.
The preschool series is being produced by 9 Story Media Group, with animation handled by Brown Bag Films in Toronto. The new series will continue focusing heavily on literacy and reading skills for preschool and kindergarten-aged viewers. This time, the franchise adopts a comic book-inspired format as the characters take on larger missions inside Reader Valley.
The story follows Super Why, Wonder Red, Princess Presto, Alpha Pig, and newcomer Power Paige. They attempt to stop a group of villains causing chaos through language and spelling mistakes. Among them are The Eraser, who removes letters and sounds, Mr. More, who adds extra words and letters, The Shuffler, who rearranges letters within words, and Outta Space, who separates letters and sounds with unnecessary spaces. The synopsis concludes, “The Super Readers must work together to make things right in Reader Valley.”
PBS KIDS executive Sara DeWitt said, “Through its fresh, comics-inspired format and fun-filled stories, the new series will help young audiences jumpstart a lifelong love of reading.” Co-creator and executive producer Angela C. Santomero added, “We know that kids and families will benefit from this new series as they learn, laugh, and help save the day.”
More details will be revealed as the spinoff moves closer to its release.
