Hero Fiennes Tiffin on what Henry Cavill told him about playing Sherlock Holmes
In an interview with Deadline at the world premiere of Young Sherlock in London, Hero Fiennes Tiffin revealed the advice Henry Cavill gave him about playing Sherlock Holmes. He said, “I spoke to Henry Cavill, actually, and specifically because he’s worked with Guy a number of times and we worked together on a film called The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare.” He added that Cavill told him, “A man who worries before it’s necessary, worries more than necessary.”
Cavill portrayed Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes and Enola Holmes 2. Fiennes Tiffin stated, “I had a slightly smaller role, and he gave me some good advice, which is, ‘A man who worries before it’s necessary, worries more than necessary.’ This is easier said than done. But, I did reach out to him before we started filming.” The premiere marked the launch of Young Sherlock, directed by Guy Ritchie.
Prime Video hosted the event at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and transformed London’s Southbank Center into 221B Baker Street. Prime Video will release all eight episodes of Young Sherlock on March 4. The series explores the backstory of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective during his younger years.
Fiennes Tiffin previously worked with Cavill and Ritchie on The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare. He said he contacted Cavill before filming began and received advice about not worrying prematurely. Cavill has collaborated with Ritchie on multiple projects.
Young Sherlock stars Fiennes Tiffin in the title role. Ritchie and members of the cast attended the premiere, and Prime Video will debut the series globally on March 4.
