Another major Saturday Night Live cast member is exiting the show, in a surprising move that’s occurring midway through the show’s 51st season.
What SNL cast member is leaving the show?
Bowen Yang, one of the most popular and cast members on the show, is leaving in the middle of his eighth season. According to a new report from Variety, Bang’s final episode will be this Saturday, which is being hosted by his Wicked and Wicked: For Good co-star Ariana Grande, with Cher set to be the show’s musical guest.
Yang first joined the show in 2018, as a writer. A year later, he was cast a featured player on the show, and then became a main cast member for the show’s 47th season. Throughout his time on the show, he’s become one of the biggest stars in the show, and appeared in a number of high-profile skits and videos.
Yang joins a long list of cast members who left the show, although every other cast member prior to Yang left ahead of the show’s 51st season. Other cast members who left include Ego Nwodim, Devon Walker, Emil Wakim, Heidi Gardner, and Michael Longfellow, as well as writers Celeste Yim and Rosebud Baker.
In an interview with Puck last week, producer Lorne Michaels said that SNL would see some changes coming to the show, though it’s unclear exactly what else is planned for the show.
Saturday Night Live’s 51st season began on NBC on October 4, 2025.
