Jon Hamm & Jennifer Aniston Go Wild in NSFW Movie Hitting Theaters Today

Sony Pictures Classics’ Jon Hamm & Jennifer Aniston movie opens in theaters today. After premiering at the Sundance Film Festival critics have praised the hilarious spoof calling it “refreshingly ridiculous” and “a daffy odyssey through Los Angeles.”

Why Jon Hamm and Jennifer Aniston’s latest NSFW comedy has everyone talking

The movie hitting theaters on July 10 is ‘Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass.’ Directed by David Wain and co-written with Ken Marino, the 94-minute R-rated comedy is a modern-day parody of The Wizard of Oz. It debuts at the box office with a solid 79% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

What made the movie NSFW is its very adult, bawdy idea. It portrays a sweet hairdresser’s revenge against her fiancé, who cheats on her with a Hollywood superstar. After realizing the truth, she embarks on an adventurous trip to Los Angeles to have fun with her celebrity crush. To make the situation worse, her fiancé shows up unexpectedly, leading to unprecedented circumstances. The film is packed with naughty and crackpot jokes, constantly making fun of high-concept movies from the late 90s.

The official synopsis reads, “Small-town hairdresser Gail Daughtry, engaged to her sweetheart Tom, faces a crisis when Tom uses his “celebrity pass”. Following this, Gail impulsively travels to Los Angeles to find her own celebrity pass, Jon Hamm, to “even the scales,” accompanied by her friend Otto. Their journey through Hollywood, assisted by various characters and hindered by Italian assassins, leads to a chaotic search for the star.”

According to Rotten Tomatoes, the movie “gives permission to laugh without feeling guilty afterwards.” In a Reddit discussion, viewers favorably compare Hamm’s and Aniston’s performances to their work in Bridesmaids and We’re the Millers. Zoey Deutch stars as Gail Daughtry. Jon Hamm and Jennifer Aniston play exaggerated versions of themselves. The supporting cast includes Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Ben Wang, and John Slattery.

According to Variety, if you love goofy spoof movies from the late 90s, this film is made for you. Fans of wild, unpredictable comedies will also enjoy its constant stream of bizarre jokes.
