A former Harry Potter actor has joined the star-studded cast of Amazon MGM’s upcoming live-action Tomb Raider series.
Who has joined the cast of the upcoming Tomb Raider TV show?
According to a new report from Deadline, Harry Potter and The White Lotus star Jason Isaacs is set to join the cast of the show. It’s unclear just what role Isaacs will have, but he’ll join a cast that already includes Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner in the lead role. Sigourney Weaver is also reported to be involved in the series in an as-of-yet unknown role.
Isaacs is best known for several high-profile roles, including starring roles in the 1997 movie Event Horizon, Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series, Captain Hook in 2003’s Peter Pan, and most recently a role in the HBO series The White Lotus.
As of now, not a whole lot is known about the upcoming Tomb Raider series other than the fact that it is described as “epic” with a “globe-trotting” adventure, according to Amazon MGM’s Jennifer Salke in 2024.
The new Tomb Raider series is created, written, and executive-produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Chad Hodge has also boarded the show, and will serve as an executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Waller-Bridge. Jonathan van Tulleken will serve as director for the series.
“I’m so excited to announce the formidable Sophie Turner as our Lara alongside this phenomenal creative team,” Waller-Bridge said in a statement upon the show’s initial announcement. “It’s not very often you get to make a show of this scale with a character you grew up loving. Everyone on board is wildly passionate about Lara and are all as outrageous, brave, and hilarious as she is. Get your artifacts out… Croft is coming…”
