Netflix has finally announced the title for the Extraction TV show, the upcoming next entry to the popular Chris Hemsworth-led action franchise. It has been confirmed that the eight-episode spin-off will now be officially titled Mercenary: An Extraction Series.
“In this action-packed thriller, a mercenary embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue hostages in Libya. Trapped between warring factions and ruthless killers, he must navigate life-or-death choices while confronting deep emotional wounds,” reads the official logline. “The series explores the trauma, betrayal, and moral conflicts of characters pushed to the edge.”

In addition to the title announcement, the streamer has also shared the first look photo from the set of Mercenary: An Extraction Series, providing the audience with a behind-the-scenes look at Lupin star Omar Sy’s leading character. Production had just recently wrapped in Ireland and is now filming in Morocco. At the moment, the project has no target release date yet.

The Extraction spin-off is written and executive-produced by showrunner Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead), with Louise Hooper (The Sandman) and Tim Southam (One Piece) each directing half of the show’s 8 episodes. The ensemble cast also includes Boyd Holbrook, Natalie Dormer, Waleed Zuaiter, Ed Speleers, Sacha Dhawan, Ross McCall, Pip Torrens, Sam Woolf, Michael Zananiri, Riyad Sliman, Muhannad Ben Amor, Aaron Heffernan, Jojo Macari, Theo Ogundipe, and Emma Appleton. Executive producers are Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Scott Nemes, and Chris Castaldi for AGBO, Sam Hargrave, Eric Gitter, and Peter Schwerin.
Besides the spin-off, Netflix is also currently developing the third installment to the Extraction film franchise, with Hemsworth set to reprise his role as Tyler Rake. In addition, the streamer also recently announced that the franchise will be getting a South Korean spin-off movie, titled TYGO, with Eternals star Don Lee and Lisa of Blackpink. This marks the global popstar’s feature acting debut, after previously starring in The White Lotus Season 3.
