“At times, it’s like [they] are on this buddy road trip, and then other times, they’re so much at arms,” the English actress said. She then provided insight into how the duo’s relationship would evolve over the course of Fallout Season 2, stating, “They’re trying to influence each other and see who’s going to rub off on whom. Is the Ghoul going to become good? Is Lucy going to become bad? Or are they going to be somewhere in the middle?”
Notably, at the end of Fallout’s first season, Purnell’s Lucy discovers that her father was actually a former Vault-Tec employee who was reanimated hundreds of years after getting cryogenically frozen. After waking up, Hank MacLean manages to escape by usurping Maximus’ power armor, causing Lucy to join hands with the Ghoul and set out on a journey to find him.
Comparing Fallout Season 2, which will take viewers to the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas, to one of Samuel Beckett’s most iconic works, Purnell said, “We have a couple of really incredible scenes that are just these big, heavyweight bouts of intellect. It was like doing Waiting for Godot in the middle of the whole thing.”
Fallout Season 2 premieres on Amazon Prime Video on December 17, 2025.
