The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 Set Video Reveals Release Window

A new behind-the-scenes video from the second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City has revealed that the AMC series is returning in 2025. Filming for Season 2 is currently underway.

The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 will arrive on AMC and AMC+ next year, though an exact release date has yet to be announced, considering it’s still in production. The first season of the post-apocalyptic series, which premiered in 2023, serves as The Walking Dead’s first sequel series and the fifth series in the franchise.

The six-episode series concluded in 2023 and was announced to be returning for a second season the same year. The series stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Maggie and Negan, respectively. Both Cohan and Morgan, who also starred in The Walking Dead, are returning for Season 2.

What is The Walking Dead: Dead City about?

The Walking Dead: Dead City saw the return of Cohan and Morgan as the fan-favorite characters from the original series. It follows the characters as they set foot on the perilous, post-apocalyptic Manhattan.

The official synopsis for The Walking Dead: Dead City reads: “Maggie and Negan travel to post-apocalyptic Manhattan – long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made it a world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.”

Other cast members include Gaius Charles as Perlie Armstrong, Zeljko Ivanek as Željko Ivanek as The Croat, Mahina Napoleon as Ginny, Logan Kim as Hershel Rhee, Jonathan Higginbotham as Tommaso, and Karina Ortiz as Amaia, among others.

Sons of Anarchy vet Kim Coates was previously announced to have joined Season 2 of the AMC series. He will portray Bruegel, described as a “heavily recurring role.”
