Presumed Innocent: Premiere Release Date Moved Up by Apple TV+

Apple TV+ has moved the release date up for the premiere of Presumed Innocent, a new drama series starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

Presumed Innocent will now premiere on Wednesday, June 12, on Apple TV+. The original date was Friday, June 14. Presumed Innocent will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival on June 9 before streaming to Apple TV+ the following week.

Who is Involved in Presumed Innocent?

Gyllenhaal headlines Presumed Innocent as Rusty Sabich, a prosecutor who becomes the prime suspect in a murder case. Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, Elizabeth Marvel, Renate Reinsve, Peter Sarsgaard, O-T Fagbenle, Chase Infiniti, Nana Mensah, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Matthew Alan, and Lily Rabe also star.

“Starring Gyllenhaal in the lead role of chief deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich, the series takes viewers on a gripping journey through the horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s office when one of its own is suspected of the crime,” the Apple TV+ synopsis reads.” The series explores obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.”

Presumed Innocent is the latest series from writer, executive producer, and showrunner David E. Kelly, the Emmy Award-winning creator of several notable shows, including Chicago Hope, The Practice, Ally McBeal, and Big Little Lies. Presumed Innocent is based on Scott Turow’s 1987 novel of the same name.

J.J. Abrams and Rachel Rusch Rich of Bad Robot will executive produce with David E. Kelley Productions. Additional executive producers include Gyllenhaal, Matthew Tinker, Dustin Thomason, and Sharr White. Anne Sewitsky and Greg Yaitanes will direct and executive produce. Turow and Miki Johnson are listed as co-executive producers.

Turow’s novel was adapted into a 1990 feature film by Alan Pakula, with Harrison Ford as Rusty Sabich. The film became a smash hit, grossing over $220 million worldwide on a $20 million budget.
