Twilight of the Gods: Zack Snyder’s Animated Netflix Series Gets Release Date Window

A release window has been revealed for Zack Snyder’s Twilight of the Gods.

Per Variety, Twilight of the Gods is now expected to premiere on Netflix in the fall of 2024. A precise release date has not yet been announced.

What do we know about Twilight of the Gods?

In 2019, Variety reported that Snyder was executive-producing and co-creating “an original anime series set in the world of Norse mythology” called Twilight of the Gods for Netflix.

The voice cast of Twilight of the Gods includes Sylvia Hoeks, Stuart Martin, Pilou Asbaek, John Noble, Paterson Joseph, Rahul Kohli, Jamie Clayton, Kristopher Hivju, Peter Stormare, Jamie Chung, Lauren Cohan, and Corey Stoll.

Speaking with Collider in December 2023, Snyder said of Twilight of the Gods, “It’s basically this: there’s a king and his queen in a small Viking village, and they want to get married,” Snyder said. “An event happens to them at their wedding that causes Sigrid, who is the bride to be, who is the child of giants, to go on a crazy mission of revenge. She enlists a cast of characters – a seer, a dwarf – and they come together to form a band that has this one mission to find a god and fight him. It’s a mission, it’s a revenge story. Sigrid is this beautiful, very Scandinavian kind of cold but passionate character that I’ve really enjoyed working through and with because she’s just so cool. Sylvia Hoeks voices her.”

He also mentioned the series will have “a lot of sex” because “that’s fun.”

The first season of Twilight of the Gods will have eight episodes. The animation comes from  Xilam Animation, while Jay Olivia and Eric Carrasco created the series with Snyder.

Meanwhile, Snyder’s latest movie, Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver, was recently released on Netflix this past weekend and is now available to stream.
