David Harbour on Stranger Things Season 5: ‘Bigger Than Anything We’ve Done’

David Harbour will head to Hawkins for one final time as Jim Hopper in Stranger Things Season 5. The popular Netflix series was set to begin filming in June before the writers’ and actors’ strike stopped production. While speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Harbour mentioned the “terrific scripts” he read from The Duffer Brothers before the strike and teased what’s to come in Season 5.

“It’s a hell of an undertaking,” Harbour said. “The set pieces and the things in the scripts that we saw are bigger than anything we’ve done in the past.”

The Upside Down invaded Hawkins at the end of Season 4, and Harbour says Season 5 will start “somewhere after that.” Although Harbour has not read the final script, he knows the ending and assures fans that things will “pay off” for the “OG characters” like Hopper, Joyce, and Eleven.

“I know where we net out, and it’s very, very moving,” Harbour said about the ending of the series.
