Stranger Things Season 5 Episode to Be Helmed by Prey Director

Netflix announced on Tuesday that Dan Trachtenberg will direct an episode of the fifth season of Stranger Things. It is unknown which episode the Prey director will helm in Stranger Things Season 5.

Trachtenberg is coming off the heels of 2022’s Prey, a prequel to the Predator films. Prey received universal acclaim for its fresh premise, exciting action sequences, and Trachtenberg’s direction. Trachtenberg also helmed 10 Cloverfield Lane, his debut directorial feature film. In television, Trachtenberg directed the pilot of Prime Video’s popular series, The Boys, along with “Playtest,” the second episode of Black Mirror Season 3.

What to Expect in Stranger Things 5?

Cast members expected to return for the fifth season include Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley, and Jamie Campbell Bower as Vecna.

Linda Hamilton, best known for the role of Sarah Connor in The Terminator series, was recently cast in an undisclosed role for Season 5. The casting news was announced at Netflix’s Tudum event.

Plot details for Season 5 are unknown. However, The Duffer Brothers confirmed the fifth season consists of eight episodes. The first episode is titled, “Chapter One: The Crawl.” Filming was slated to begin in June 2023, but production was delayed indefinitely due to the WGA’s strike.

Stranger Things is created and executive produced by The Duffer Brothers. Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and Curtis Gwinn also serve as executive producers. All four seasons of Stranger Things are streaming on Netflix.
