The Famous Five Cast Unveiled for BBC Adaptation of Adventure Novels

The BBC has announced The Famous Five cast for Nicolas Winding Refn’s upcoming series adaptation of Enid Blyton’s popular children’s adventure novels. Diaana Babnicova, Elliott Rose, Kit Rakusen, and Flora Jacoby Richardson have been tapped to portray the respective roles of George, Julian, Dick, and Anne. The fifth member of their team is the faithful Kip, a Bearded Collie Cross set to be played by Timmy the dog.

“Our brilliant young cast are mind-blowingly talented and, along with Kip, they are already bringing these gorgeous characters to life in a fresh and modern way,” executive producer Tom Kirkby said in a statement. “Together with the brilliant Jack, Ann, James and Diana we can’t wait to bring these glorious, action-filled, epic, family adventures to the screen.”

The young cast will also be joined by Game of Thrones vet Jack Gleeson as Wentworth, Ann Akinjirin (Moon Knight) as Fanny, James Lance (Ted Lasso) as Quentin, and Diana Quick (Father Brown, Houdini and Doyle) as Mrs. Wentworth.

What to Expect in The Famous Five?

“The series follows the five daring young explorers as they encounter treacherous, action-packed adventures, remarkable mysteries, unparalleled danger, and astounding secrets in an unforgettable odyssey that evokes the power of camaraderie between the fearless young heroes,” reads the synopsis.

The three-part series is executive produced by Nicolas Wind Refn, who is also serving a director along with Kirkbym and Bill Eagles. Executive producers are Nicolas Winding Refn, Matthew Read, Will Gould, Frith Tiplady, Tim Kirkby, Christina Bostofte Erritzøe, Kimberly Willming and Matthew Bouch, with Sophie MacClancy producing.
