Tom Hiddleston Will Return in The Night Manager Season 2

According to Deadline, Prime Video and BBC are currently developing the second season of the acclaimed spy thriller The Night Manager, which is expected to start filming later this year in London and South America. Marvel Cinematic Universe vet Tom Hiddleston has signed on to reprise his leading role as Jonathan Pine. It’s unclear if Hiddleston would be the only one returning from the first season.

The Night Manager Season 2 will once again be written by David Farr, who had also worked on the first season. Further details about the plot and characters are still being kept under wraps, but the next installment will reportedly take place in the present day where Jonathan Pine will face a new and more deadly challenge.

The first season, which aired on BBC One and AMC, also starred Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman, Elizabeth Debicki, Tobias Menzies, David Harewood, Tom Hollander, and more. It centered around Hiddleston’s Pine, a night manager of a luxury Cairo hotel who gets recruited by the manager of a Foreign Office taskforce for an espionage mission.

Season 1 was well-received by critics and audiences alike, leading it to more than ten Emmy nominations including winning Outstanding Directing Limited Series for Susanne Bier’s directorial work on the series. For their performance in the first installment, Hiddleston, Colman, and Laurie each received a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor, Supporting Actress, and Best Supporting Actor, respectively.
