“It is thrilling to have Jacob Elordi join us on this project,” Executive producer Jo Porter said in a statement (via Variety). “The character of Dorrigo Evans requires a multi-layered actor who can bring strength, sensitivity, and charisma to the role — qualities Jacob has in spades. Together with the creative powerhouses of Justin Kurzel and Shaun Grant, there couldn’t be a more exciting team to bring this important novel to life.”

The Narrow Road to the Deep North will be directed and executive produced by Justin Kurzel from a screenplay written by Shaun Grant. The five-part miniseries will feature Elordi playing an army surgeon named Dorrigo Evans, “whose short but forbidden affair with Amy, the young wife of his uncle, sustains and haunts him through his darkest days as the reluctant leader of men held prisoner in a Thai-Burmese camp during WWII.”

The project is executive produced by Porter, Flanagan, and Rachel Gardner. It hails from Curio Pictures.

Elordi first gained recognition for his role as Noah Flynn in Netflix’s trilogy of romantic comedy films titled The Kissing Booth. His acting breakthrough came when he joined the cast of HBO’s Zendaya-led teen drama Euphoria. He will next be seen working with two Oscar-winning filmmakers, Emerald Fennell in Saltburn and Sofia Coppola in Priscilla.
