Emilia Clarke’s Secret Invasion Character Name Leaked by Official GIF

In a surprising turn of events, Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke has had the identity of the character she’ll be playing in Disney+’s Secret Invasion series revealed through an official Tenor GIF.

Streamr and OneTakeNews broke the news that Emilia Clarke will be playing Abigail Brand, the commanding officer of S.W.O.R.D. — essentially S.H.I.E.L.D. but focused on extraterrestrial issues and threats. Little is known about much of the character’s backstory in the comics beyond being born to an alien father and human mother and raised on the planet Axus. She has the X-Gene in the Earth-616 continuity, meaning she’s officially a mutant like the X-Men, though whether this will carry over to the Secret Invasion series has yet to be seen.

Disney+’s Secret Invasion is set as a crossover comic event series showcasing a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years. It will be led by MCU mainstay Samuel L. Jackson as he reprises his role as Nick Fury for the twelfth time in live-action since first portraying the character in 2008’s Iron Man. He will be teaming up with Captain Marvel‘s Ben Mendelsohn, who is returning as Talos — the pseudo-leader of the Skrulls.

Joining them are MCU newcomers Kingsley Ben-Adir (One Night in Miami) as the series’ main villain, Oscar winner Olivia Colman (The Crown), Emmy nominee Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Killian Scott (Dublin Murders), Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore), and Carmen Ejogo (Fantastic Beasts), along with MCU vet Cobie Smulders as she reprises her role as Maria Hill.

Based on Brian Michael Bendis, Leinil Francis Yu, Mark Morales, and Laura Martin’s comic book series, Secret Invasion is executive produced by Kyle Bradstreet (Mr. Robot), with Let Him Go director Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim (The Looming Tower) set as directors.
