The co-creator of a canceled Peacock hit isn’t ready to say goodbye just yet. David Iserson addressed the end of Emilia Clarke’s spy thriller in an emotional post that hints the story may not be over.
Ponies co-creator addresses Peacock cancellation with future hope
Peacock canceled the acclaimed spy thriller Ponies after just one season, according to an Instagram post by co-creator David Iserson. The show, starring Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson, premiered in January 2026. It currently holds a 94% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes despite failing to crack Nielsen’s streaming top 10 charts.
Iserson shared the news on Instagram, confirming the cancellation while leaving the door open for a potential return. He wrote that the decision “ends, for now, a journey that started over seven years ago when Susanna Fogel and I first began developing this idea.” His repeated use of “for now” throughout the post signals hope for the characters’ future.
The co-creator also bid a temporary farewell to the show’s protagonists. “Goodbye to Bea and Twila for now. I hope we all get to visit them again,” Iserson wrote. He urged fans to spread the word, adding that Ponies “is not like anything else on television.” He also expressed pride in the cast and crew’s work on the series.
Iserson acknowledged the challenges of producing the show within the current television landscape. He described Ponies as “a period show with two female leads and an unusual tone” and called it “the kind of thing that is hard to make in this business.” He maintained that “chasing the improbable rather than the likely is still worthwhile” for fellow creators.
Co-creator Susanna Fogel previously expressed interest in a second season during a media interaction. She revealed that Season 2 would explore significant character changes for the protagonists.
Fans who have not yet watched the show can currently stream it on Peacock.
