An animated version of the Fox sitcom Married…With Children is in the works at Sony Pictures Television, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The report notes that the core cast of the original series, including Ed O’Neil, Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate, and David Faustino, have all been signed on to reprise their roles in voiceover form. Alex Carter (a writer and executive producer on Family Guy) is set to serve as showrunner on the series, which the report notes will be taken to potential buyers in the near future.

This isn’t the first time that a revival for the series has been tried, with Sony also attempting to create a spin-off in 2014 that centered on Bud Bundy (Faustino), although the series didn’t move forward. This new move comes as The Hollywood Reporter reports that Sony continues to look for new ways to bring back shows from its existing IP library.

The original Married…With Children was created Michael G. Moye and Ron Leavitt, and ran from 1987-97 on Fox. The series is considered by many to be the first “raunchy” sitcom to air on a regular television network, with the show focusing on the Bundy family, a group that has no problem bad-mouthing or cracking jokes with one another. Despite derision from critics, Married…With Children became one of the longest-running sitcoms in television history, running for 11 seasons and 259 episodes.
