Resident Evil Teaser Trailer Introduces the Umbrella Corporation’s Joy Pill

Netflix has released another Resident Evil teaser trailer for the upcoming action-horror drama, featuring plenty of new footage. Starring Lance Reddick and Ella Balinska, the series will be available for streaming on July 14.

The video features Albert Wesker as he introduces the Umbrella Corporation’s newest miracle drug, the Joy pill, which is an anti-depressant that cures OCD, lowers anxiety, and increases focus. The only problem is that the pill is laced with the T-virus. It also teases the monsters that Balinska’s Jade will have to face including mutated animals.

“Set in the year 2036, 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures,” reads the synopsis. “In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.”

The live-action Resident Evil series hails from Supernatural executive producer Andrew Dabb, who is serving as a writer, executive producer, and showrunner. It will reportedly be set between two timelines featuring the same protagonist. It stars John Wick star Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker, the villainous head of Umbrella Corporation.
