Peacock has officially renewed Meredith Scardino and Tina Fey’s musical comedy series Girls5eva for a second season. The renewal comes after more than two months since the series debuted its first 8-episode first season in May, which achieved a Certified Fresh status on Rotten Tomatoes. It also currently holds a 100% Top Critic rating.
“We are so excited to continue Girls5eva alongside this incredibly talented group of cast and producers,” President, Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, Lisa Katz said in a statement. “It was hard to miss the immediate fandom that was born after the launch of this series. This aspirational comeback story is filled with heart and friendship, perfectly blended with catchy-songs and humor, and delivered by an exceptionally versatile cast. We look forward to following this group’s journey as they continue to hit just the right notes.”

In Girls5eva, when a one-hit-wonder girl group from the 90’s gets sampled by a young rapper, its members reunite to give their pop star dreams one more shot. They may be grown women balancing spouses, kids, jobs, debt, aging parents, and shoulder pain, but can’t they also be Girls5eva?
The series is being led by Sara Bareilles as Dawn, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Wickie, Busy Phillips as Summer, and Paula Pell as Gloria. It also features Daniel Breaker, Jonathan Hadary, and Ashley Park, with guest stars Jimmy Fallon. Tina Fey, Bowen Yang, and Vanessa Williams.
Girls5eva is created and executive produced Meredith Scardino (The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt). Executive producers are 9-time Emmy winner Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, Jeff Richmond, David Miner and Eric Gurian. It is a co-production by Little Stranger, Bevel Gears, 3 Arts and Universal Television.
