Following Mehcad Brooks’ exit from The CW’s Supergirl as James Olsen, aka Guardian, the character’s sister Kelly, played by Azie Tesfai, has taken up the mantle for the back half of the final season and her new Guardian look has been unveiled. The upcoming episode featuring Kelly becoming Guardian titled “Blind Spots” was co-written by Tesfai and directed by Arrow’s David Ramsey, according to TheWrap. Set to air on September 21, 2021, the episode will reportedly address racial inequality. Tesfai shared the new image on Twitter of Kelly Olsen as Guardian with the caption: “While this superhero, character, & my process of writing her debut represents many “firsts”… the one I’m most proud of is culture: The first Ethiopian or Eritrean superhero EVER!”
