Netflix’s The Midnight Club is a 10-episode horror series from Mike Flanagan and Leah Fong, based on Pike’s horror novel published in 1994, and is set in Rotterdam Home, a hospice for terminally ill teenagers. The story centers on a group of patients who begin to gather together at midnight to share scary stories and as they form a bond, they make a pact that whichever of them dies first, they will contact the others from beyond the grave.

Flanagan and Fong worked together on The Haunting of Bly Manor, the follow-up to the 41-year-old writer/director’s adaptation of Shirley Jackson’s novel The Haunting of Hill House. Fong will be executive producing the series alongside Julia Bicknell and Flanagan & Trevor Macy through their Intrepid Pictures banner, which has an overall creative deal with the streaming service. It’s been previously reported that the show will incorporate other novels from Pike’s bibliography. Flanagan and co. are quickly becoming Netflix’s Masters of Horror with The Midnight Club joining their in-demand genre fare.
