Brandon Cook, Lincoln Younes and Ruby Cruz to Star in CW’s Retooled Lost Boys Pilot

According to Deadline, the CW’s retooled Lost Boys pilot has landed Branden Cook (Industry), Lincoln Younes (Grand Hotel), and Ruby Cruz (Castle Rock) in the lead roles. Each will play a version of the characters originated by Jason Patrick, Kiefer Sutherland, and Jamie Gertz in the classic original film.

Cook will play Garrett, the older of two brothers who moved with their mom to North Carolina, and must contend with a gang of vampires headed by charismatic leader Benjamin (Younes). Cruz plays Elsie, who connects with the new guy in town.

Heather Mitchell and Rob Thomas’ long-in-development series adaptation of The Lost Boys is based on director Joel Schumacher‘s 1987 horror-comedy of the same name (purchase it here). The new pilot will feature a whole new cast and will be directed by Marcos Siega, who is known for directing episodes of many TV series such as The Vampire Diaries, The Following, Blindspot, You and Batwoman.

Last year, the remake’s first pilot which was directed by Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has undergone a lot of changes including re-shoots and recasting of all the first pilot’s cast members with the exception of two actors, Medalion Rahimi (Before I Fall) and Dakota Shapiro (Valley of the Boom). However, the planned reshoots fell through because the network ultimately decided to restart the whole production.

Written by Heather Mitchell (Scandal), the original The Lost Boys pilot was set in sunny seaside Santa Carla, where it follows the story of brothers Michael and Sam Emerson as they moved to Santa Carla with their mother Lucy after the unfortunate death of their father. However, things go wrong when the brothers soon find themselves being drawn deeper and deeper into the seductive world of Santa Carla’s eternally beautiful and youthful undead…
