HBO's Game of Thrones Prequel Pilot Wraps Production

Naomi Watts’ Game of Thrones Prequel Series Cancelled at HBO

After more than three months since the Game of Thrones prequel pilot had wrapped up its production in July, Deadline reports that HBO has ultimately decided not to move forward with showrunner Jane Goldman’s Game of Thrones big-budget spinoff series which was supposed to be led by Naomi Watts. Word is that the pilot had a troubled production while shooting in Northern Ireland.

A second prequel pilot was given the greenlight by HBO last month, from Martin and Ryan Condal, which tracks the fall of House Targaryen 300 years before Game of Thrones.

The big-budgeted spinoff wass created by Jane Goldman (Kick-AssKingsman) and GOT author George R.R. Martin. The untitled pilot was set thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones and chronicles the world’s descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, from the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.
