NBC Developing TV Adaptation of St. Elmo’s Fire

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that an unexpected 80s film is on the way to the small screen. NBC is developing a modern reboot of the 1985 movie St. Elmo’s Fire with Josh Berman (Drop Dead Diva, The Mob Doctor) attached to write the script and executive produce. No word on casting for the series was announced.

Like the film, the series will follow a group of friends fresh out of college as they adjust to the world of adulthood. The original film starred Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy and Mare Winningham. Joel Schumacher co-wrote and directed the film

This marks the second time that the film has been attempted as a television series, with ABC previously developing the film for series with Topher Grace attached. What will really bake your noodle though is that that announcement happened… EXACTLY ten years ago today. Time is a flat circle, and we’ll see all of you again on August 14, 2029.
