Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg has officially joined the EGOT club with his latest win at the Grammys on February 1, 2026. Jennifer Hudson, a fellow EGOT club member herself, congratulated the Jurassic Park director on achieving his exclusive status that few have in the history of the entertainment industry.
Jennifer Hudson talks about Steven Spielberg getting the EGOT status
While speaking exclusively with PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly on the red carpet of the Grammys, Jennifer Hudson reacted to Steven Spielberg winning the coveted Grammys. Speilberg won the Grammy for Best Music Film for Music by John Williams. He produced it, completing his collection and achieving the EGOT status.
Hudson, who also won all four major American entertainment awards, reacted to Spielberg’s win, saying, “I love that Steven Spielberg, he got it today, which is amazing.” She added, “The company that we’re in with all the EGOTs is insane because he won today, so I’m celebrating that as well.”
She was further asked what advice she could give to the new inductee of the special club. Hudson responded, “How in the world can I welcome Steven Spielberg?” She added, “He is the EGOT, and I’m like, wow, that cannot be overlooked. That is a major celebration.”
Hudson achieved the EGOT status in 2022 when A Strange Loop won Best Musical at the Tony Awards.
Steven Spielberg, meanwhile, only lacked the Grammy. He won three Oscars for his work on Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan, Emmys for The Pacific and A Pinky & the Brain Christmas. He was also a producer for A Strange Loop, which gave him his Tony Award. His latest film involvement, Music by John Williams, earned him the last of the big prizes.
Spielberg remains active in the industry and will soon return with Disclosure Day in 2026, which stars Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo.
