Jeremy Allen White Reveals if He’ll Ever Do a Rom-Com Movie

Jeremy Allen White sat down for an interview with Kate Hudson and revealed he would love to star in a rom-com. However, the part needs to feel right to the actor. White is best known for his intense work in The Bear, and his project reprising Bruce Springsteen is about to be released.

Jeremy Allen White says he would ‘love to’ do a romantic comedy

Jeremy Allen White commented on doing rom-coms in a wide-ranging conversation with Kate Hudson. They talked about their music films and acting processes. When asked directly about rom-coms, he said, “I’d love to. I’ve never done one before, but they seem so fun” (via Variety).

White added that his main concern is finding the right role. He wants something that would stand the test of time rather than a quick, forgettable picture. “I worry about finding the right character, because I’d want it to be a classic rom-com. Not a flash in the pan, but ‘When Harry Met Sally.’”

That caution fits with how White approaches big projects. For his Springsteen role, White prepared in detail, wearing period clothing and learning to play an old Gibson guitar. He told Hudson that the physical gear “messed with my posture” and that he took the work seriously. This suggests he would bring the same level of craft to a romantic comedy if the part required it.

As for Kate Hudson, she has been the star of a rom-com that has stood the test of time. She was the lead in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, which is still considered a 2000s classic, thanks to her iconic yellow dress.

She has also worked on other rom-coms and, during the conversation with White, noted that making these films is “harder than you think. The rules are different. You want to make it for the people showing up to see it. They want something out of it, too. They want to feel, to laugh.”
