After a total of six rigorous quests that lasted for 12 episodes, the debut season of Netflix’s Physical: Asia finally has its winner. A spin-off of Physical: 100, the South Korean reality competition series began with 48 contestants from eight countries across Asia, with one team eliminated at the end of each round. Now, following an intense battle in the season 1 finale, Physical: Asia viewers finally know who won the most strenuous reality competition of recent times.
Physical: Asia champion nation revealed
Team Korea became the first winner of Physical: Asia after defeating Team Mongolia in the final quest.
While the Mongolian team gave it their best shot, Team Korea was able to best them in a three-game series, including wall-pushing, iron ball dragging, and infinite tail tagging, leading to their victory in the competition.
The winning team comprised Kim Dong-hyun (MMA fighter), Kim Min-jae (ssireum wrestler), Jang Eun-sil (wrestler), Amotti (Crossfitter), Choi Seung-yeon (Crossfitter), and Yun Sung-bin (former skeleton racer).
Having defeated Team Mongolia, Team Korea not only became the first winners of Netflix’s Physical: Asia but also bagged a hefty prize money of one billion won ($700,000).
Reflecting on his side’s win, Kim Dong-hyun stated on the show, “I was an MMA fighter for about 20 years, and throughout all those years, the championship belts, all those gold medals, they were always out of reach.”
The veteran MMA fighter added, “Maybe I was unlucky, or maybe I just wasn’t good enough. I used to beat myself up for it all the time. But winning Physical: Asia on behalf of Korea with this team means more than any medal or belt I could’ve won on my own. This is truly the honor of my career. I’m just so grateful.”
The triumph at Physical: Asia was extra special for Amotti, who notched his second win in the Netflix franchise, having already come out on top in Physical: 100 Season 2.
