Dick Van Dyke performs impromptu “Happy Birthday” sing-along for a young fan
At nearly 100 years of age, Dick Van Dyke has remained true to his habit of bringing joy and laughter to the world. On Sunday, October 5, 2025, Van Dyke, along with his wife, Arlene Silver, hosted the Vandy High Tea. This event raises funds to benefit The Van Dyke Endowment of the Arts and the Dick Van Dyke Museum.
During the event, Van Dyke led the crowd in singing “Happy Birthday” for a young fan named Tristian, who celebrated his sixth birthday that day. Traveling all the way from Connecticut to see Van Dyke live, the child, clutching Bert and Mary Poppins dolls, seemed to have his wish fulfilled.
Apart from “Happy Birthday,” Van Dyke also performed “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” along with the theme of The Dick Van Dyke Show.
He had previously canceled an appearance months earlier due to health issues, but he seemed to be in good health this time. “He was so sharp, was in great health and said he’s feeling good,” an onlooker told PEOPLE, “He was laughing almost the entire time and couldn’t have enjoyed himself more.”
The event took place at the Vandy Manor, the home of Van Dyke and Silver. It was produced by Chris Isaacson Presents and hosted by Stu Shostak. Alongside the entertainment, guests enjoyed sandwiches and desserts from Monrose Catering, paired with a variety of refreshments.
This latest energetic appearance is sure to delight many of Dick Van Dyke’s fans.
