Rock Star and Actor Meat Loaf Passes Away at 74, Family Issues Statement

Grammy award-winning musician and actor Meat Loaf has passed away at the age of 74.

The family of Marvin Lee Aday announced the rock star’s death this morning, although no cause of death was given. While best known for his classic 1977 album Bat Out of Hell and the 1993 hit “I’d Do Anything For Love,” Meat Loaf also had a successful acting career having appeared in memorable roles in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Fight Club. Ultimately, the musician sold over 100 million albums.

“Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight with his wife Deborah by his side,” the statement from his family read. “Daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends have been with him throughout the last 24 hours. We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man. From his heart to your souls … don’t ever stop rocking!”

Prior to Meat Loaf’s music career taking off, he was also a Broadway staple in the early 1970s, which led to his first film roles. Other notable film and television appearances include Wayne’s World, Black Dog, Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny, South Park, and The Equalizer.

ComingSoon sends condolences to Aday’s friends and family.
