Watch: Dracula’s a Granddaddy in New ‘Hotel Transylvania 2’ Trailer

While certainly nowhere near as excruciating as other Adam Sandler/Happy Madison Productions like, say, the Grown Up movies, That’s My Boy or Jack and Jill (not to mention Hotel Transylvania 2, which just got a new trailer.

The Drac Pack is back, although we now find ourselves some years later. Dracula (Sandler) is now a grandfather to his daughter Mavis’ (Selena Gomez) son Dennis, although the child is well into his toddler years and still hasn’t formed in vampire traits. Worried he won’t come into his potential, he and his fellow Pack members Frank (Kevin James), Wayne (Steve Buscemi), Murray (Keegan-Michael Key, taking over for CeeLo Green) and Griffin (David Spade) enter the grandson through “monster-in-training” boot-camp. Somewhere along the line, Dracula’s own father Vlad (Mel Brooks) gets involved. Andy Samberg and Fran Drescher also return.

To the credit of this trailer, and the first teaser released in March, the pacing looks stronger and the jokes seem more inspired in the same way director Genndy Tartakovsky style was back in his days at “Dexter’s Laboratory“. But I’m not wholly convinced this will be much better than the first. It all feels forced the way these animated sequels often are, but maybe I’ll be more inclined to book a room in this new Sony Pictures Animation film if the promos continue to look promising.

Hotel Transylvania 2 haunts its way into theaters on September 25. Check out the new trailer below:
