The first reviews of Justin Kurzel‘s Macbeth out of the Cannes Film Festival were quite strong, referring to the film as dark, brooding, raw and visceral it sounds as if Kurzel brought the darkness he delivered in The Snowtown Murders to William Shakespeare‘s play and today we have the first official trailer for the adaptation.
Starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, Kurzel’s Macbeth tells the story of a fearless warrior and inspiring leader brought low by ambition and desire. Described as a reimagining of what wartime must have been like for one of Shakespeare’s most famous and compelling characters, we follow along as this story of all-consuming passion and ambition unfolds in war torn Scottish landscape.
The Weinstein Co. has yet to set a stateside release date, but you can watch the trailer below and wish it was hitting theaters tomorrow.
