I was at a really nice dinner on Friday: there was a candle on the table, some Pinot Grigio, a fancy pizza with prosciutto and truffle oil. The conversation was good, laughter was had… and then I poked myself in the eye. I don’t know if it was my eyelashes or my fingernail that did it, but I scratched my cornea pretty good, and my eye watered profusely. My date and I had a nice, long laugh about it, but even after flushing my eye out in the bathroom for a solid three or four minutes my eye burned for the duration of the night.
Anyways, what I’m getting at here is, in spite of the laughter that ensued, I’m not really a fan of pain. So, when it comes to the whole S&M thing, I don’t really get it. The things I assume happen in Fifty Shades of Grey, which contains a reported 20 minutes of sex scenes, seem like they’d prompt a whole lot of black and blue, and I’m just not about that life, ya feel me? But if the clip below is to be believed, Fifty Shades of Grey is a property that has sold over 100 million books, generated over 250 million trailer views, and provoked countless fantasies. Now, I didn’t audit those numbers, but countless fantasies sounds like a pretty high number. Somebody should find a way to test that one.
The clip asks an important question: “Are you curious?” My answer is no, but I’m also not the target audience for this film, so if your fancy has been tickled in any way, take a peek at the new clip below and get excited. Oh, and there’s also a new trailer for the film that played during the Super Bowl for you to check out. I watched the game but missed all the movie trailers, which I think means I did Super Bowl Sunday very, very right.
Fifty Shades of Grey hits theaters February 13, presumably perfect for a nice, romantic date on Valentine’s Day.
