I would really like to catch Antoine Fuqua‘s The Equalizer at this year’s Toronto Film Festival, but the schedule isn’t working in my favor and with it hitting theaters on September 26 it’s not as if I won’t be seeing it soon enough. Of course, this is the Internet, the digital world in which first impressions are highly sought and touted. We’ll see…
hard “R” rating and with Fuqua reteaming with his Training Day lead, Denzel Washington, that’s something to get a little excited about.
Today a new trailer, clip and poster for the movie have premiered, the trailer coming from Eminem‘s YouTube channel as it features his new track “Guts Over Fear” with Sia accompanying. Check both of them out below along with the film’s official synopsis.
Loosely based on the late-’80s TV series centered on a private detective available for hire if you have a problem that you don’t know how to solve. His no-nonsense attitude, compassion, and experience with dealing with a wide variety of situations makes him a powerful and useful detective.
In The Equalizer, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a man who believes he has put his mysterious past behind him and dedicated himself to beginning a new, quiet life. But when McCall meets Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters, he can’t stand idly by – he has to help her. Armed with hidden skills that allow him to serve vengeance against anyone who would brutalize the helpless, McCall comes out of his self-imposed retirement and finds his desire for justice reawakened. If someone has a problem, if the odds are stacked against them, if they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.
